What are my options for my old 401k when I switch jobs?

I have heard that it is best to leave it there, but I have also heard that I have additional options that I could choose?

There are a multitude of options.  Depending on the person, their tolerance, and what stage they are in terms of proximity to retirement there are many different opportunities for the individuals to determine what is the most effective way to control it.  In some instances, there are opportunities for you to lock in your principle, meaning you can ensure that you will never have below whatever you initially invested there. Which is huge in this age of market volatility.
